Filling the Void

Alan had a void in his life. It had been at least six months since he had moved any of the parts of the 600 gallon aquarium. He was sad -- very depressed, in fact. Well, I am here to help. Because of this emptiness in his life, I decided that it was time to move the aquarium again! Well, that and a 10'x30' storage unit would be able to accommodate my motorcycles and the aquarium. Of course, the main reason was to help Alan. I am incredibly altruistic, so I need to help. Now I just need to let Keaton and Nick in on the fun -- they are sad, too.

This week has been crazy! So much happened today alone. I had a better day in the register than most Tuesdays during the summer. I sold a BLUE Norcross frameset which has been in stock for two years. A complete overhaul came in -- full Campagnolo equipment! That customer actually lives in Maryland and is here on business. He drove all of the way from Buckhead to my shop to have us work on the bike -- because of our reviews on sites like Yelp! and Kudzu. It ain't rocket science -- people actually want businesses with good reviews! All of these businesses blame the economy and/or the Internet for their woes. I know this is a novel concept, but how about doing a good job and treat your customers right?! I know, I know -- I am crazy...

Moving some of my motorcycles to the storage unit allowed me to park my truck in the garage again, which in turn meant that I could ride my bike home tonight! The 1,500 lumen Serfas headlight was amazing! Sure, I was a little nervous riding home, but no more than when I ride during the day. Actually, I was probably more confident -- there is no way drivers couldn't see me, especially with the rear flasher! I am looking forward to my ride in tomorrow morning.

This time of year is perfect. We are finally at the level where we are busy through the winter, yet it is more relaxed. Big bike projects (such as the bike builds I have ahead, complete overhauls, etc.) make the pace more manageable. Additionally, we have PLENTY to accomplish on the "to-do" list. I applied the second coat of paint to the new fit studio today, so that is done. The painting was finished last week in the office, so I just need to paint the bathroom and that side of the shop will be ready to bring in all of the furniture. A little at a time, but it adds up.

That's really all I can think of to report today.
